In September 1919, Claude and Grace Griesel opened the Claude E. Griesel Mortuary to provide a service to the community based on professionalism and dignity. After Claude’s death in 1939, Grace attended mortuary school and continued the business with kindness and understanding for many years. Following Grace’s death in 1961, James Mack, Claude and Grace’s great-nephew, assumed directorship until 2003.
With over 60 years of professional experience as licensed funeral directors and embalmers, collectively, Leo Stodden and Rosario Jimenez Stodden purchased Griesel Mortuary in September 2003 under the name of Griesel Jimenez Stodden Funeral Home. Their principal focus was to preserve the tradition of a family-owned establishment and, in keeping with Griesel’s legacy, to provide the highest level of service to the community with compassion, kindness, and understanding. Having the opportunity to appreciate their parents’ dedication and contribution to the community, Felicia and Alicia Jimenez Stodden, Leo and Rosario’s daughters, also became licensed funeral directors and embalmers in 2005 and 2012, respectively.
The Stodden family recognizes their client families experience one of the most strenuous moments in their lives, and they are devoted to not only providing the necessary support needed but to bringing comfort and understanding during those difficult times. It is an honor to celebrate over 100 years of funeral service to the public, and the Stodden family looks forward to dedicating many years to offering their services with reverence, compassion, and respect.
