Born on February 17th on the South Side of Chicago, Lucy lived a life defined by vibrant joy, boundless creativity, and an extraordinarily big heart. Her brilliant mind was clear from a young age: she attended Chicago Vocational High School and graduated a year early.
Her remarkable dedication was evident early on when she began working at AT&T, formerly known as Illinois Bell at the tender age of 17. With her sharp mind and organized nature, she built an impressive 48-year career there, retiring as an assistant engineer in 2020.
Lucy dedicated her life to Jesus at an early age and attended church faithfully. She radiated warmth, compassion, and understanding to everyone she met. She was remarkably organized, full of wisdom, and blessed with a wonderful sense of humor. Above all, Lucy was deeply selfless, always putting others before herself. She had a loving, artistic soul with a passion for drawing, photography, and music. She loved to dance, a joyful energy that was truly infectious, and something she delighted in sharing with everyone around her and passing down to generations to come.
Lucy is preceded in death by her parents Jose & Jennie Gonzalez.
Family was Lucy’s heart. She is survived by her cherished siblings Linda Gonzalez, Adele (Arturo C.) Herrera, Jennie (David) Carrillo and Joe (Mary Lou) Gonzalez.
She was a loyal sister, a true friend, and the ultimate Tia!
She had 11 nieces and nephews: Marie P. (Esteban) Senisais, Naomi (Terrell Bradley) Gonzalez, Cristine P. (Troy Puente) Gonzalez, Joe R. Gonzalez Jr., Melissa Rose (Brandon) Harvey, Jennie Emma Carrillo ,Theresa Marie (Guillermo) Lopez, David John Carrillo, Michelle Nicole (Jose) Ortiz, Marisela Julia (Joseph) Peake and Arturo C. (Liah Rodriguez) Herrera Jr. along with 14 great-nieces and nephews: Esteban Senisais Jr., Cataleya Nicole and Emilio Manuel Puente, Maddox Terrell and Everly Blossom Bradley, Sammuel Joseph Reyes Gonzalez, Jazlyn Marie, Evan Eugene, Emma Grace Harvey, Kara Ariel Romero, Carlos Alexander Carrillo, Grace Elizabeth, Gabriella Evangeline Lopez, Elena Rose and Lilyana Eliza Ortiz, but Lucy was far more than an aunt, she was a loving second mother who cared for each of them deeply. She taught every single one of them how to dance, guided them with her endless knowledge, and showered them with an abundance of Love. She took great pride in all of her nieces and nephews achievements attending every Birthday party, Baby Shower, wedding and family function. Lucy’s joyful spirit and creative legacy lives on in the hearts of the family she loved so deeply.
