Age 65, late of Slag Valley, IL passed away Wednesday, December 6, 2017. Beloved husband of Deborah Garcia. Loving father of Nina Joy Garcia and John A. Garcia Jr. Caring grandfather of many. Cherished brother of Yolanda (Henry “Hank” and the late Richard Varela) Varela Kazmierczak, Christine M. (late Robert F.) Biron, Emilia Sandra “Sha” Garcia Richards and Michael R. (Joann) Garcia. Kind uncle of many nieces and nephews. Friend to many. Preceded in death by parents: Henry and Guadalupe Garcia and siblings: Henry (late Shirley) Garcia Jr. and Guillermo “Bill” (Evelyn M. Garcia-Kudro) Garcia. John proudly and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. He was also a proud member of the Southeast Side Vietnam Veterans and donated to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. John was a self-taught musician and taught local youth how to play the guitar.  He loved gathering with family and friends to share his love of music, some of his favorites were: The Beatles, Chicago, Neal Young, Cat Stevens and The Rolling Stones. John was known for his amazing fried chicken, popcorn and hamburgers.
